Re:Serve's Westbury Drive-Through Delivers Food to Over 130 Families

WESTBURY, N.Y. — Food insecurity is a rapidly rising problem experienced by many in our communities and around the world. Moreover, the acceleration of food insecurity is a critical issue that has yet to be halted. To hit the brakes on food insecurity, re:Serve has collaborated with People Loving People Westbury to host a drive-through food distribution event. 

In this drive-through food distribution, re:Serve provided food for over 130 families experiencing food insecurity. Our re:Serve volunteers at this event ensured that all of these families would drive home with ample nutrition, placed directly into their trunks.

“The impact each box of food creates is meaningful for many families. With every box of food we give out, re:Serve ensures that families are alleviated of the distress of what their next meals will be,” stated Co-founder Eason Chen.

This re:Serve drive-through event enabled quick, convenient, and efficient food distribution to the families in Westbury. Families remained in their cars as they drove through the event, with re:Serve volunteers filling their trunks with boxes of nutritious groceries.

“We rise by lifting others. Helping one person may not change the whole world, but it can change the world for one person,” emphasized Zachary Miu, re:Serve’s event manager.

“We want to create a real difference in our communities and the world. Perfectly edible food being thrown away could be redistributed so that everyone can eat nutritious meals every day, reducing both food insecurity and food waste,” shared Co-founder Edwin Chen.

For those reasons, re:Serve was created to address the urgency of food insecurity and food waste. Our mission at re:Serve is to rescue excess food that would’ve been thrown away and reroute it to families of greater need, effectively reducing food insecurity

“Feeding our community, together,” is emphasized on the back of re:Serve’s shirt by our team members.

This re:Serve event was ultimately yet another resounding success. With every successful re:Serve event, we’ve gained momentum and made a difference thanks to our team, partners, and volunteers. Fasten your seatbelts, for our mission will only accelerate from here on out.
